About

Hello. I am Simon Kitson, an independent Educational Psychologist based in Bristol. I set up EDGE Psychology in order to help children and young people who are experiencing difficulties at school, especially those struggling with academic work or having behavioural issues. My special interests are Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Parents, teachers and young people themselves all hold a piece of the puzzle as to why a child may not be thriving; my aim is to bring the pieces together so that children can achieve their educational potential.

I have over 20 years’ experience carrying out independent, evidence-based assessments of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) for parents, local authority teams and the independent sector. I also provide training programmes for parents, teachers and other professionals and have developed specialist programmes across both health and education commissioning bodies.

If you think I can help, please get in touch.

Continual professional development:

In March 2023 I submitted my professional development portfolio to HCPC (Health & Care Professional Council) for auditing. My portfolio for the previous 2 years included the many courses I had attended; the range of resources for schools, parents and young people that I have produced; and personal research for three articles I have written for an assessment publisher.

HCPC have accepted my portfolio saying “....meeting the standards means that you have continued to learn and develop for the benefit of your service users. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the time and effort that has gone into completing your audit submission and to thank you for participating in the process”.
